Trade Show Planning and Tips

Getting ready for a trade show or convention is a big job, especially if it is your first time attending such an event. The layout and setup of your trade show booth is critical to creating a good impression of your business. There are some standard guidelines that you can follow to ensure that your trade show experience is successful.

Keep your space open and inviting. If people cannot enter easily, they will be less inclined to stop and talk. Remember safety as well;computer and other electrical cables should be safely stowed to avoid tripping hazards.

Make your product the focus. A cluttered booth will obscure your message. Be sure that people can tell from a quick glance who you are and what your product or service is. Signage should be highly visible. If you have multimedia displays, be sure to use the right technology to present your message in a professional manner.

Keep your branding consistent. Your booth is a reflection of your business. Stick with a simple color palette, based on company colors. Use understated materials in your booth; for example, brushed metal instead of high-gloss or chrome. Too much glitz and shine can overwhelm visitors.

Trade show costs can add up quickly. In addition to the cost of building and shipping the display itself, there is the cost of transporting the technology you will be using. Items like Plasma screens are an impressive addition to any booth, but the cost of shipping can be prohibitive. Consider renting technology and having it installed by a local company. The costs of renting will be far less than shipping.

Renting all booth components makes a lot of sense, especially if you are new to the trade show game and need some time to determine what does and does not work in your exhibit. Trade show computer rentals enable you to bring the latest technology without having to spend a lot in capital costs. With rentals, you can also go the extra mile and get something that really attracts attention, like a high-quality sound system or a large Plasma or LCD screen.

Be sure to leave enough time to thoroughly test your equipment. Nothing is worse than having a technology failure in front of hundreds of potential customers. If you have too much on your plate, you can seek out a local technical consultant to help get all of your technology up and running. If you choose to rent your equipment, talk to your vendor about their technical support.
