The town of Rockingham is located in southeastern Vermont on the banks of the Connecticut River. The area is predominantly rural and forested. There are also densely-settled residential neighborhoods, commercial centers, and several industrial sites. Most of these residents live within two incorporated villages, Bellows Falls and Saxtons River. Others live in or near the small hamlets of Bartonsville, Brockways Mills, and Cambridgeport. All of the towns settlements are located on the Connecticut River or one of the two tributaries to the Connecticut, the Williams and Saxtons Rivers. The various areas include:

Transportation:

Amtrak, the national passenger rail system, provides daily service through Bellows Falls operating between Washington, D.C. and St. Albans, Vermont. The station also serves as the headquarters for the Green Mountain Railroad.

The Connecticut River Transit is a private, non-profit personal mobility specialist that provides scheduled bus service linking Bellows Falls, Brattleboro, Springfield and other local communities as needed by private arrangement.
