List Building - Writing Free Gift Emails and Referral Emails 2
Obviously if you are referring an affiliate product, then you need to tie them into your own credibility. You see, if someone buys from an affiliate link to which you have sent them, they have to trust the person from which they are now buying.
And unless they already have a trust level developed (and if they did, it is likely they have already bought the product), you have to tie in that person to your own credibility.
In that case, you can use something like this:

I had that problem at one time, and I struggled and struggled and then I met (name of creator of product you are promoting). I bought (name of product you are promoting), and I learned the steps to writing an effective sales letter and now my sales letters convert.

Notice how I have linked this person with my own credibility. I am basically saying, this is good enough for me; it is good enough for you.
If I have just created a product of my own, I will use something short just like this:
I have just finished creating a new ebook on (whatever). You can check it out here: (link to my product sales page).
That is it. Short and sweet and simple.
If I am recommending something I have already written, I will often select something they can specifically learn from my book, and write an email like this:
Do you want to build a squeeze page? Learn how here: (link to sales page).
By doing this I am qualifying my readers only people who want to learn to do that specific thing will click through. And of course when they get to my sales page, they see that not only will they learn to do that one thing I have mentioned but my book covers much more.
