List Building With An Eye for Quality
List building is such a lucrative exercise online, and especially when you create a meaningful relationship online. It amazes me that with such a lucrative exercise online, that people will resort to cheating and practically buying their leads, filling their list with sub par email addresses and of course, they dont make as much money on their list.
List building is something that should be done with an eye on quality. You can brag all you want about how many names you have on your list, but if my list of 1700 outperforms your list of 17,000, then your list is really not any better than mine. I would much rather have 10% as many names as someone else, especially if I am making 5 times more money. You see, for me, it is not about bragging about my list size, it is about how much money does my list put in my pocket at the end of the month.
When I first started list building, I tracked every single ad source I used, and not only tracked how many people came into my lists from each source, but I also tracked which lead sources purchased products from me (and I am in this to make money). I tried a lot of things. When I first got started I made the classic beginner mistake and bought traffic - all sorts of traffic. I did Adwords and Overture. I did ezine ads. I did solo ads. And I wrote articles.
Now I write articles almost exclusively. Why? It surely isnt because I like to write articles. It is hard work and terribly boring.
I list build using articles because the people who join my lists after reading my articles, spend a lot more money with me than do visitors from other sources.
