List Building - How to Start Your First List and Get Subscribers the Very First Day
List building is not as difficult as it may seem. If you have no list, it seems like an insurmountable boulder. If you have 500 subscribers and you are losing as many everyday as you are getting, it feels like a swooshing drain. But if you are collecting 100 to 200 new net subscribers everyday, you probably believe list building is easy.
Folks, the difference between getting 2 leads a day and 200 leads a day is not working 100 times harder. It is simply doing the right work and taking massive action. You see, it does not really take much more work to run an ezine ad that pulls 1000 new subscribers than it does to run an ezine ad that pulls 10 subscribers--the only difference is in the skill, not the effort.
First, you need a landing page with an opt in box on it. Preferably a landing page that does nothing but collect subscribers. Do not try to sell anything to anybody on this page. This page should have one target-to get visitors to become subscribers. If you do this page right, you should convert at least 40% of your visitors to subscribers.
Second, you must send traffic to that squeeze page and you must track everything you do. This step sounds really simple and even over simplified, but that really is all you need to do.
You may think, I send traffic to my site, and nothing happens. That is not true. Your definition of traffic and mine are two different things. If you are sending traffic, you are getting more than 100 unique visitors a day. If you are not getting 100 unique visitors a day, you are not getting any traffic at all.
Do you want to build a big list or is this just a hobby and if you work for an hour a day and generate 10 uniques a day, you can whine that nothing works? Do you think the truly successful online get 10 visitors a day? No, they get 1000s. Same internet you are on.
Get 100 uniques per day and you should have 40 new subscribers per day. Get 300 uniques per day and you should have 120 new subscribers per day. That is 3600 per month, month in and month out.
Tracking. You must track every traffic source. Is it work? Yes. If you do not want to work, get off the internet. If you have 10 sources of traffic, you must have 10 tracking campaigns. You can do it with a tracking tool, you can do it by creating multiple landing pages with a different tracking autoresponder on each one. But you must track. If you are not tracking, you will never know if a particular source of traffic is pulling for you--you will just know your total uniques and total subscribers for each day. You have to track. As much as 90% of the campaigns I run are worthless--but each time I find one that is in the top 10%, that makes money for me, I boost up my effort for that source. The difference between winners and losers online is tracking.
You probably think I have oversimplified the list building process. I have not. It only requires 2 steps---traffic and a squeeze page. Nothing more. Think about that. 2 steps.
