List Building How do You Keep Track of All the Names on Your List?
One of my subscribers asked me this question recently and since I think that maybe for beginners this a common question, I thought I would release a version of my answer for you.
The bottom line is, you want to use a professional autoresponder service to do it for you. They have the resources to make sure that you are legally compliant and that your emails get delivered, something you will have a hard time doing yourself.
I personally recommend aweber, as they manage all of my lists for me, and I understand for most of the reputable companies on the web.
They will give you what is called an opt in form to put on your web site, and that is where the visitors to your web site will give you their name and email address. The nice thing is, aweber stores all of that info for you too, so you dont have to worry about security.
Your autoresponder service will also keep track of which subscribers have received which emails, and this is particularly handy because if you were to try to do it all yourself, you would go crazy. They simply automate everything, and you can even go in and see who is getting which email which day.
Of course you have to do some work you will have to write the emails, and send traffic to your opt in page but the idea with the autoresponder is that they handle all the details of the actual list for you.
