List Building for Experts - How to Increase Your Email Open Rate II
What was your long-term attitude towards that persons future emails?
If you are like me, you stopped opening those emails.
What can you deduce from your own behavior as shown by these questions? What I come up with is that you have to be very careful what you put in your emails.
Never mail something you wouldnt want to receive yourself. Always include strong, useful information in the email. Always overdeliver make sure that every email you send out stands out by offering the very best content possible.
One of the things I do to help me easily overdeliver is I regularly send out free gift emails. I will purchase ebooks for the express purpose of sending them out free to my list. I will write informative articles for the express purpose of sending them to my list. I want my list to believe that I offer the very best value when it comes to opening emails, and I find that offering exceptional content does just that.
In addition to free gifts and very useful content, I try to create meaningful interaction with my list. I ask questions of my list.
I will send out emails specifically asking them to ask me any questions they might have. Now, the key here is, if you are going to do that, you have to answer the questions. Use this as an opportunity to build a relationship with your list, and to stand out from the rest of the crowd. I often receive emails from my subscribers thanking me for personally answering their emails. They like that special touch.
