How to Create a Squeeze Page

The squeeze page can be either used as a main entry point for your site, or can be used with your advertising campaigns as a way of collecting information from new visitors.

This squeeze page will be a separate and free-standing page. The only purpose of this page is to collect visitors information.

Your squeeze page should include the following elements:

1) A headline. The headline should stand out, and literally draw the visitor in to the page. This headline can promise some information, make a claim, or ask a question.

For example, if you have hair care web site, you headline might read something like this:

Imagine radiant, beautiful hair starting today!

How to give your hair the gloss youve been looking for!

If you have a weight loss web site, maybe your headline would read something like this:

Lose 25 pounds before Christmas---and keep it off during the holiday season!

How to lose weight without hunger---guaranteed!

These are all headlines that lure the visitor to read more.

2) You will have a short paragraph either giving some useful information or listing some of the other things you can do for them.

At the end of the paragraph, you will ask the reader to opt-in to your list.

This will read something like this:

I also include a promise about the confidentiality of their name and email address that reads something like this:

I hate SPAM, just like I imagine you do. I promise I will never, sell, lease, rent, or give away your name to anyone, and that you will never receive any SPAM as a result of this mailing list.

One thing that is important here, if you include a line like that, you cannot ever sell your list (or lease it, whatever).

3) An opt in box. You should be able to get the html code for this from your autoresponder company.

This has been an excerpt from my flagstaff manual, the List Building Manifesto.
