Death and Adjustment - The Hypothesis - Part - VI
The purpose of this part of hypothesis is to establish the argument that death, as a natural fact, can be a difficulty for our mental wellbeing. In fact death is actively experienced at the end of ones life. So adjustment, which usually occurs after any event, is not possible for that person whose life has ended with death. But death is terrorizing as knowledge. The person or any person, who knows that he or she will die someday and fulfill the criteria of mortality, remains involved with the truth through out the whole life no matter what that person wants. Though the truth Death is not very clear for anyone unless there is a belief guiding about death. But overall situation permits the following ideas about death
1) End
\r 2) Separation
\r 3) Inactivation
All the above criteria are approached by the traditional scientific procedures, either directly or indirectly. The things we do in our everyday life are related to our survival. Sometimes they are directly linked and sometimes indirectly. Even committing suicide is always related to dissatisfaction or protest about some factor related to survival. So we cherish survival till the last possible moment, which is evident through events like social practices of funeral or burial. As we find in the literature of Freudian theories, anything related to survival is also termed as instinctual. So the instinctual drives we have inside us are very much likely to be challenged by the phenomenon of death. This kind of challenge is justified as psychological dangers for any living person, irrespective of age and health. Thus the three criteria under discussion are also harmful for our everyday mental health too.
So till this portion of this hypothesis we have found three major aspects related to death. The first one is the confusing and inconclusive direction from science, the second one is the three common religious aspects about death that are also considered as reliable by many, and finally the third one is the three universal and terrorizing concepts about death that are harmful for us psychologically, at least.
Now that I have briefly described the skeleton of this hypothesis consisting of the helplessness of science, the extensions from religion and the harmful conditions provided from the available face of death. So, onwards, the body of the hypothesis will be based mainly on this skeleton, though necessary extensions are not impossible wherever necessary.
