Cures For Panic Attacks
Panic attacks are different for each person. The symptoms each person experiences might be different, but many times there are similarities. The severity of the attack and the length of time the attack lasts can vary from person to person. Some experience a panic attack that lasts only a few seconds. Others might have sporadic attacks over several days. There are some who have small attacks at first, and then over several days, the attacks build; some to the point of rendering a person incapable of functioning properly. The fear of something tangible, or intangible, or a phobia can cause panic attacks.
What are some of the triggers of a panic attack? People who experience this malady consistently can usually pinpoint their triggers and will strive to avoid them. However, others have no idea why they experience panic attacks; they only want to know how to cure them altogether. Thankfully, there are treatments for panic attacks. They are definitely manageable, so those who experience them should seek help, regardless of how embarrassing it may seem to them.
To begin to find a cure for panic attacks is to first find the cause of the attack. What is it that is causing you to feel afraid, sweat profusely, have rapid heartbeats, or headaches? Some have found that their attacks are triggered by a physical condition. Doctors can treat the physical causes effectively. If the cause isnt physical, but emotional instead, it may take a bit more time to determine the triggers or causes. Talk to your spouse or a close friend to see if they can help to pinpoint what is causing your attacks. Try to record each attack and consider the following: where you were, who was with you, what you were doing, what you might have been thinking about, how close was it to meal time, what did you eat at the prior meal, and what do you remember seeing, tasting, hearing, touching, or smelling prior to the attack. When these questions are answered, your triggers will be discovered and treatment can be administered.
Diet can be a factor when trying to cure panic attacks. When the body experiences an attack, adrenaline floods your system and as a result, your body and mind are prepared to fight or flee. Avoid artificial stimulants like caffeinated soft drinks, chocolate, coffee, herbal energy teas or supplements, or anything else that gives you an extra boost physically.
For those who experience severe panic attacks, doctors might prescribe tranquilizers, anti-depressants, or other intense drugs to combat the symptoms and effects of the attacks. If this is the case for you, make certain you follow the directions to the tee. Only take them when absolutely necessary, or they will become useless over time if taken too often.
There is a treatment called a panic attack desensitization plan. With this plan, confrontation of the triggers is key. Always have someone or a few trusted friends or family with you as you face the triggers that cause your panic attacks. Take things slowly as you spend more time in the places or engaging in the activities that trigger the attacks. It may seem difficult or even impossible, but the best way to overcome and cure panic attacks is to face the fear or fears head on, slowly and methodically, until the triggers disappear, and with them, your panic attacks. There is hope; it simply takes time and a willingness to tackle your fears.
